Announcing Louise Westerlind to the Board of Directors

Nyima Foundation is honored to announce Louise Westerlind to its Board of Directors. Louise is a Partner and Managing Director at Liveit.hk and was previously at the World Bank (CGAP - Consultative Group to Assist the Poor). "Louise brings a wealth of knowledge as an entrepreneur, as a lender in microfinance, and as a philanthropist in her charitable work. We look forward to her contributions to the Board and her vision to help implement a sustainable microfinance lending model where borrowers can improve their lives with dignity and help alleviate poverty," said Sunny Ommanney, Founder & CEO of Nyima Foundation. About Louise Westerlind
Louise is a Partner and Managing Director at Liveit.hk, which provides gift experiences for all occasions. She was previously at the World Bank (CGAP - Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) where she managed the Rating Fund, researched microfinance investment vehicles and socially responsible/sustainable investments, and established relationships between microfinance investors and institutions/partners. Prior to CGAP, Louise was in financial services consulting and research.
Louise currently volunteers at GivingBread.org and Cambridge.org.hk. Her prior volunteer work has been with the Swedish Seamen’s Church (Treasurer and Board Member), StreetWise Partners (Mentor), Association of International Business and Economics, and Copenhagen Business School (Marketing Coordinator). She lived, studied, and worked in Denmark, Hong Kong, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Louise received her BSc in International Business from Copenhagen Business School and an MBA from University of Cambridge.

Nyima Foundation donates $30,000 to Missionaries of Charity

In early July 2012, devastating floods in India left 95 people dead and almost 2 million people homeless. On July 23, Nyima Foundation donated $30,000 to the Missionaries of Charity for the expressed purpose of helping the flood victims in the northeastern region of India (Assam and Meghalaya). Missionaries of Charity has 250 centers in India, of which two are in the northeast of the country. These two centers are ready to assist those affected by the floods. The charity also helps the poorest of the poor, including orphans, the elderly, people with various illnesses, schools for street children, homes for women, and AIDS hospice. Mother Teresa founded the organization in Calcutta, India in 1950.
